Farmers take to the streets for third day decrying Revanth Reddy’s remarks

For the third consecutive day, the farmers across the state continued their protest denouncing the remarks made by TPCC president A Revanth Reddy over free power supply to the farming sector. He opined that three hours of power supply is enough for the farmers instead of round-the-clock free power being given by BRS government. The protests were led by senior leaders and ministers in their respective districts demanding an apology from the Congress leader.

It may be recalled that there were days when the farmers got the power supply during night hours. They were forced to abandon their sleep and homes and rush to their agricultural fields to save their standing crops. In the process, many used to die due to snake bites and electrocution. To end the woes of farmers, CM KCR took a revolutionary decision without minding expenditure. Following his decision, the farmers in the state are getting a free 24-hour power supply much to the relief of farmhands.

Addressing the gathering at Nizamabad, Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said the tricks of Congress will not succeed. People will hit back and show its place in the ensuing elections. Uttering nonsense and later changing track by the Congress leaders will not help them. People are not ready to believe them anymore, said Panchayat Raj minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao in Jangaon district.

At a meeting at Nirmal district, Minister A Indrakaran Reddy condemned the remarks by Revanth Reddy and said people will teach a fitting lesson to the Congress party soon. Minister Ch Malla Reddy opined that the Congress leaders will have to face the consequences for their thoughtless remarks. Many farmers rejected the three-hour power supply proposal by the Congress party.

One farmer Akula Sudhakar of Challigarige village of Chityal mandal in Bhupalpalli district said it would not wet even the half-acre land. Jatoth Eerya, a farmer from Chilukamma thanda of Khanapur mandal in Warangal said if the Congress party is elected, those dark days will be back again.
