CM KCR to launch the second phase of sheep distribution

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the second phase of sheep distribution at Mancherial on Friday. A total of 3.38 lakh people would benefit from the scheme for which the state government is spending Rs. 6,000 crore. Animal husbandry minister T Srinivas Yadav will launch the sheep distribution at Nalgonda simultaneously. It was aimed at strengthening the families of Golla and Kurma communities. A total of 7.61 lakh people were identified as eligible for the benefit.

There are a total of 8,109 Sheep and Goat rearers cooperative societies with a total membership of 7,61,895 and in the first phase, 3.93 lakh got the benefit. A total of 82.64 lakh sheep were distributed with Rs. 5,064 crores Presently the unit price has been revised from Rs 1.25 lakh to Rs 1.75 lakh. If a sheep dies suddenly, Rs 5,000 would be given as an insurance amount. According to the central government records, the sheep population in Telangana which was 1.28 crore rose to 1.91 crore followed by Andhra Pradesh which has 1.76 crore sheep and Karnataka in third position with a sheep population of 1.10 crore.
