The people of Telangana patronised the Congress party this time giving it a clear majority in the just concluded elections. According to the last reports, the Congress got 64 seats, BRS 35, BJP 8 and others 7 seats in the 119 assembly seats of Telangana state.
Addressing a press conference in the late hours, BRS working president Mr KT Rama Rao has asked the party cadre not to lose heart. The party will bounce back with more vigour and strength. There was no wave as perceived to be as many of the party candidates lost the election with narrow margins. The party would introspect the reasons for the defeat. He thanked all the party workers for their efforts during the elections.
The BRS would play a constructive opposition role and demand the Congress party to implement all its promises. “We are not discouraged by the defeat. We will conduct a detailed study of the reasons leading to our defeat. This is only a speedbreaker. Not every day is Sunday,” he said.
Meanwhile, chief minister KCR, senior leaders KTR and T Harish Rao retained their seats with an impressive majority of votes. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has tendered his resignation for the post of chief minister. He sent his resignation to the Governor through a messenger.
