The Central government has instructed the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states to maintain the status co as existed on November 28 at the Nagarjuna Sagar dam. The Union Home Ministry secretary held a teleconference with the chief secretaries and DGPs of both states and asked them to withdraw their police force from the dam. It was decided to deploy CRPF personnel at the dam site.

The centre also asked the AP government to stop the illegal withdrawal of water from the dam. It has already withdrawn five TMC of water from the dam. It may be noted that the AP government deployed about 1500 police personnel at midnight of November 30 and barricaded half of the dam covering 13 of the 26 gates.
