Chief minister Mr KCR paid rich tributes to freedom fighter Konda Laxman Bapuji on his birth anniversary here today.
Describing him as darling of masses, the chief minister said he was a multi-faceted personality who strove for the uplift of the poor and downtrodden. He was a true democratic. Mr Bapuji took part in Telangana armed struggle and always dreamt of separate Telangana.
The TRS government honoured him by naming the horticultural university after him and also launched several schemes such a pensions and welfare schemes to the Padmashali community.

Earlier in the day, a statue of Bapuji as unveiled by the IT minister Mr KTR at Jaladrusyam, on the banks of Tankbund in Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, he said it was a great honour to the state to declare Bapuji’s jayanthi as official celebrations.
“This was the same place which was demolished by the then government where the TRS is honouring Bapuji by installing a statue and celebrating his birth anniversary with great pride,” he said. Mr KTR said honouring Bapuji and recalling his life and works is self-respect to every Telanganite. Scores of TRS Party leaders were present.
