Revanth makes U-turn on Musi Beautification Project’s budget

After a huge public uproar and criticism from the BRS Party, it is reported that CM Revanth Reddy has reversed his stance on the Musi Beautification Project’s budget. The CM recently announced a requirement of Rs. 1.5 lakh crore for the project. In response, BRS Working President KTR questioned the need for such a large budget, pointing out that the Kaleshwaram project was completed with Rs. 80 thousand crore.

During a discussion with media representatives at his residence on Monday, Revanth Reddy clarified that the Rs. 1.5 lakh crore budget is not solely for Musi beautification. He explained that the amount includes Rs. 35,000 crore for the construction of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), Rs. 15,000 crore for service roads, metro expansion, and maintenance over five years. This comprehensive budget has raised questions about the inclusion of separate allocations for RRR and Metro in the Musi beautification budget.

In May 2024, Revanth said that the Musi Beautification Project would cost around Rs. 50,000 crore. However, in just two months, he increased the estimates by Rs. 1 lakh crore, claiming that the project would incur an expenditure of Rs. 1.5 lakh crore.
