Contrary to the claims made by CM Revanth Reddy in the Assembly on Monday, social activist Gavinolla Srinivas stated that Revanth Reddy has no idea whatsoever about the petition filed by him against the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS). Revanth claimed that he was behind Srinivas in moving the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on the RLIS issue.
In a conversation with ‘Mission Telangana’, Srinivas said that, as advised by senior advocate Sravan Kumar, he filed a petition against the Rayalaseema project in the NGT after the Andhra Pradesh government released G.O 203. The G.O was released to divert Krishna river waters from Srisailam to Rayalaseema through Pothireddypadu. “Revanth lied in the Assembly. He has no knowledge of the petition I filed. All the opposition parties raised the issue after I filed the petition,” he clarified.
The social activist added that the Congress party has no role in the case, and he filed it on behalf of the farmers of the region, as his native district – erstwhile Mahabubnagar, will be most affected by the G.O. “I was part of the Telangana movement and fought for our water. As our region was facing injustice, I filed the case,” Srinivas added.
A native of Bapanpally village in Narayanpet district, Srinivas said that the then Advocate General of Telangana and the BRS government aided him a lot in the process. He added that the KCR government helped him in providing additional input and data, which resulted in the issuance of a stay order on the project.
