MLC Kavitha lodges complaint against Tihar Jail authorities over insufficient amenities

MLC Kavitha expressed her grief that the jail authorities are not providing her with adequate facilities. To this extent, Kavitha’s lawyers filed a complaint against the Tihar jail authorities at the Rouse Avenue Special Court in Delhi on Thursday.

Responding to this, the judge issued notices to the concerned jail authorities. The issue traces back to Kavitha’s appeal for certain amenities upon her judicial custody, initiated on the 26th of this month.

Kavitha’s plea to the court had sought permissions including arranging her own meals, retaining personal clothing, adorning jewellery, managing bedding, acquiring blankets, and wearing slippers during her stay in Tihar jail. These directives were mandated by the court before Kavitha’s transfer to Tihar jail.

However, her lawyer, Mohith Rao, apprised the court that despite these explicit orders, Kavitha is purportedly being deprived of these facilities, with even basic daily wear clothing allegedly disallowed.
