The success story of Telangana’s water resource management will be showcased on an international stage. Minister KT Rama Rao will be touring the United States of America (USA) and give a presentation on the success of the world’s largest lift irrigation project – the Kaleshwaram Project, and Telangana’s mission to quench the thirst of the people – Mission Bhagiratha. KTR will deliver the inaugural address at the Environmental and Water Resources Congress to be organised by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
In 2017, at a conference organised by the ASCE in Sacramento, USA, KTR explained in detail about Mission Bhagiratha and the major irrigation projects that are being planned in Telangana. In 2022, the ASCE team visited the Kaleshwaram Project and was amazed by the speedy completion of the project and termed it a game changer. Later, the ASCE officials invited KTR to the US to share the success story of the Kaleshwaram Project.
In a conference to be attended by civil engineers across the USA, the minister will give a presentation on the benefits and the socio-economic advancement brought by the Kaleshwaram Project. KTR will also speak on the remarkable achievements of Telangana in the irrigation sector.
Minister KTR expressed his happiness at the opportunity to present the progress of Telangana. KTR said that CM KCR’s knowledge, vision and love for the land have transformed Telangana. Once parched and drought-stricken region is now turned into lush green fields, he added. During his tour, KTR will visit five states in the US and meet with the representatives of several companies and prospective investors.
