KTR questions rationale behind Governor’s decision to reject MLCs nomination

IT minister and BRS party working president Mr KT Rama Rao sought to know why the Governor rejected the two candidates proposed by the State government for the MLC posts. Governor Tamilisai’s contention that they belonged to a political party is very irrational and illegal. The same Governor was the BJP Tamil Nadu unit head even a day before being appointed as Telangana state Governor.

Mr Rama Rao said both the candidates – Dasoju Sravan and Kurra Satyanarana belonged to very backward classes and they were very active in public life. The BRS party recognised their work and wanted to empower them politically. Depriving them a chance by the Governor is very rude and irrational, he pointed out.

The BRS leader went all out describing the Governor as unfit as she used the same language against the BRS candidates who very much deserved to become members of the Legislative Council in Telangana. He asked the Governor if there was no precedent of appointing BJP leaders to the council in any state. The BRS would go to people and explain to them the attitude of the Governor and the BJP. Their attitude towards the Telangana state, the minister added.

Scores of leaders and intellectuals faulted Governor Tamilisai’s decision to reject the nomination of two BRS candidates to the Council. They opined that she had no right to do so as the elected government decided on the issue. The Governor posed a threat to democracy and the federal spirit of the constitution, they opined.
