Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday announced the construction of 200 model markets, 50 multi-level parking complexes, 175 bus-bays, 50 multi-purpose function halls, 36 graveyards, modernisation of 36 tanks, construction of two lakh houses and 18 dobhi ghats, development of 150 parks, 1,000 playgrounds and 1,000 gyms and the setting up of 1,000 e-Libraries.

He made these announcements at a meeting with the officials and public representatives of Hyderabad regarding the Swachh Hyderabad programme. “We will take up all these works in a phase-wise manner,” the chief minister said.

He said that the urban health centres in the city will be brought under the GHMC limits from the medical and health department. The number of zones in the city will also be increased from the present five, he said.

The chief minister instructed the officers to set up six special teams to supervise the drinking water supply, maintenance of nalas, collection of garbage, removal of debris, sewerage, dumpyards and the maintenance of urban health centres. “These committees should meet once a week and suggest improvements for these aspects,” Rao said.

He assured that the Godavari river water will soon be diverted from Yellamappli to cater to the drinking water needs of the city residents. The chief minister directed the officials to sanction new tap connections immediately to people who have paid the deposit.
