Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has suggested the inclusion of lessons depicting the importance of Mahatma Gandhi’s concept of ‘Gram Swaraj’, Panchayat Raj system, and the uniqueness of the new Panchayat Raj Act in Social Studies in the syllabus for all classes.
In a letter to the Special Chief Secretary of the State Education Department, Deshapathi Srinivas, Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister, said special lessons designed to inculcate moral values in children along with separate books for moral education explaining humility and obedience to parents, teachers and elders should also be included in the syllabus.
Further, students should be taught teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, BR Ambedkar, along with those that will inculcate national fervour, the importance of respecting meritorious people and on treating everyone, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, equally and with respect, Srinivas said in his letter.
