A group of engineers from Chattisgarh who visited the Mulugu and Bhupalpally districts said the Kaleshwaram project is a great project that was completed within a short time. Chhattisgarh state chief engineer Nagaria, superintendent engineer K S Bhandari and Telangana engineer-in-chief Hariram and chief engineer Vijay Bhaskar undertook a joint survey.
The Chattisgarh state is objecting to the Sammakka barrage in the Mulugu district. As the barrage is filled with water up to 83 meters, some of the habitations in Chhattisgarh state Kothur village are submerged, they contended. However, the barrage with 83 meters of water would only inundate 22 hectares of forest land in Kothur village. The project was designed to perfection with the least submergence. It does not pose any threat to agricultural land in Chhattisgarh.
Having been satisfied with the argument of Telangana engineers, the engineers’ delegation from Chhattisgarh later visited the Kaleshwaram project and was amazed at the marvel. They went around the Laxmi barrage, Annaram barrage and pump houses. Engineer-in-chief Hariram explained the project details.
