‘Jungle bachao, jungle badao’: CM KCR’s message on forest martyrs day

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has appealed to the citizens to take a pledge with the slogan ‘Jungle bacho – jungle badao’ – and strive to protect the forest. Conveying his message on Forest Department Martyrs Memorial Day on Monday, the CM said it was the responsibility of all citizens to preserve and protect the forest in the state.

With the reports of global warming and unexpected changes in seasons, the Telangana government has focused on improving the forest cover and greenery in habitation. Even in a concrete jungle like Hyderabad, the state government has succeeded in increasing the green cover and bagged the prestigious World Green City Award 2002.

Mr KCR called upon the people to supplement the efforts of the state government and ensure 33 per cent of forest cover in the state. He wanted the people to contribute their might. By protecting forests and wildlife, people should remember the sacrifices made by the forest department personnel fighting against the wood and wildlife smugglers, said MP Santosh of Green India Challenge.
