Illegal sand transport: Seized trucks go missing from police and TSMDC custody

Almost 10 out of the 17 trucks seized for the unlawful transportation of sand went missing under mysterious circumstances on Thursday. These trucks had been in the spotlight due to the alleged involvement of a woman minister’s Personal Assistant (PA) in the illegal transport.

The Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation (TSMDC) confiscated these vehicles in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district and handed them over to the custody of the Burgampad police after necessary documentation. Despite the presence of law enforcement officials and 10 TSMDC staff members assigned to guard duty, the trucks mysteriously disappeared.

The trucks were transporting sand with a photo of CM Revanth Reddy imprinted on the windshield. However, upon being apprehended, the lorry drivers broke the glass bearing the CM’s photo.

Reportedly, Sujith Reddy (the woman minister’s PA), who is currently under suspension, allegedly threatened the police officers to release the vehicles. Another minister’s Personal Assistant is also suspended for involvement in this illegal activity.
