Harish Rao challenges Congress leaders over free power for farmers

Finance Minister T Harish Rao said the state government is ready for a referendum on the free power supply to debunk the allegations of Congress leaders. It was the Congress party leaders who are greedy for power but BRS leaders were never after power and positions. He said that criticising Chief Minister KCR amounts to self-deception.

Being a deputy speaker and a MLA of Telugu Desam Party, he openly wrote a letter to his party president and then CM Chandrababu Naidu demanding a rollback in power tariff after the firing incident at Basheerbagh. Later, he came out sympathising with the beleaguered farmers. He espoused the cause of a separate Telangana only to do justice to the people of Telangana. Mr Harish Rao challenged the Congress leaders to come for an open debate on the free power issue. He said people would vindicate the stance of Congress and BRS in ensuing elections.

Harish warned TPCC president A Revanth Reddy to restrain from making false and baseless allegations. “Stop mudslinging the government and CM KCR. People are eagerly waiting for a chance to teach a befitting lesson to the Congress party once again,” he said. Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy said the Congress party is an anti-farmer party and Revanth Reddy is an agent of N Chandrababu Naidu. “Mr Naidu is responsible for firing on farmers at Basheerbagh,” he said. Council chairman G Sukhender Reddy said Revanth Reddy lacked basic knowledge about the power sector and the intentions of the state government. He described Komatireddy Venkat Reddy as a good-for-nothing person.
