The state government has decided to distribute 20,000 sewing machines to minority women and help them get self-employed. The State Minority Finance Corporation got its proposals cleared by the state government for the purpose. It would now provide training to the beneficiaries and give sewing machines for free to 20,000 women belonging to minority communities. The scheme is named ‘KCR Gift’.
Women between 21 to 55 years of age with Rs. 1.50 lakh annual income in rural areas and Rs. 2 lakh income in Urban areas can apply. Preference would be given to single women, widows, divorced and poor. Applications would be received till July 20. This scheme is viewed as a unique one that aims at empowering poor women. They could now earn money and live with pride and self-respect.
