Some unidentified Congress goons attacked the BRS party candidate and sitting MLA Guvvala Balaraju in the Achampet constituency and injured him. The Congress cadre suspecting that Balaraju was taking money in bags to distribute to voters, intercepted his vehicle and got into an argument. The wordy duel resulted in clashes between them and Congress workers suddenly attacked him with stones and sticks.
Balaraju sustained injuries on his cheek and his security men immediately whisked him away from the spot. He was rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad. BRS working president KT Rama Rao and others visited the injured candidate and condemned the attack. He said the Congress party is starting a new practice of attacking political opponents which is not good for democracy.
The other day, another candidate Mr Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was stabbed by an unknown person during the campaign who was found to be an associate of the Congress party. Mr KTR warned the Congress party workers to refrain from such acts else they would have to face similar consequences.
