The Congress party, which heavily criticized the KCR government over liquor sales, is now taking steps to increase liquor revenue. The Revanth government aims to achieve an income of Rs. 45,000 crores this year through alcohol and is taking decisive steps toward this goal.
It is reported that the statistics provided by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reflect this progress. According to the CAG report, the state earned Rs. 1,580 crores from liquor sales in the first month of the 2024-25 financial year, Rs. 3,321 crores in May, and Rs. 1,342 crores in June.
The Excise Department is generating approximately Rs. 3,000 crores per month from alcohol sales, with a total income of Rs. 23,000 crores accumulated within six months. The Congress government plans to improve liquor sales by Rs. 11,000 crores compared to last year.
