Congress claims credit for ‘Kaloji Kalakshethram’ built by BRS govt.

The Congress government is claiming credit for yet another remarkable project completed during the BRS rule. Today, CM Revanth Reddy inaugurated the ‘Kaloji Kalakshethram,’ a project initiated and built by the KCR government in Warangal. Ironically, the Congress party is boasting as if their government constructed the building.

To celebrate Warangal’s rich heritage, history, and culture, the KCR government constructed a state-of-the-art art center named after the renowned poet and Telangana activist, ‘Praja Kavi’ Kaloji Narayana Rao. Located near the Hanamkonda bus stand, this architectural marvel was built on 4.25 acres of land.

The sprawling four-storey building, spanning 1.39 lakh square feet, was constructed at a cost of Rs. 85.10 crore. It features a 1,500-seat auditorium, a mini meeting hall, dining halls, VIP suites, two makeup rooms, and an art gallery. Visitors can enjoy a free-function lobby and gallery space, while four high-capacity lifts ensure accessibility.

Kaloji Narayana Rao dedicated his life to the fight for a separate Telangana state. Despite being a Padma Bhushan awardee, the united Andhra Pradesh governments ignored requests from the Kaloji Foundation to allocate even 300 square yards for his memorial in Warangal. Successive chief ministers—Chandrababu Naidu, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Rosaiah, and Kiran Kumar Reddy—failed to act on these appeals.

After the formation of Telangana, KCR fulfilled his promise to commemorate Kaloji Narayana Rao’s legacy and visited Warangal for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Kalakshethram project.

The project faced delays, including a three-year slowdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the then Municipal Administration Minister KTR conducted a detailed review and expedited the work by allocating necessary funds. Today, the fully equipped Kalakshethram building stands as a testament to the KCR government’s commitment to honoring Telangana’s cultural icons.
