Good news to lakhs of government employees in Telangana. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao decided to establish a special ‘Employee Health Care Trust’ (EHTC) and implement a new ‘Employee Health Scheme’ (EHS) to provide cashless treatment to employees and pensioners.
To this extent, the Department of Health has released GO number 186. Employees and pensioners are happy about the decision and thanked CM KCR and the State government. The decision will benefit about seven lakh families across the state. The first PRC commission suggested the State government to implement a special health scheme for employees and pensioners.
It has been stated that a special trust should be set up for the implementation of the scheme and a certain amount from the employees and pensioners and the same amount should be deposited by the government as a matching grant to the trust every month. To this extent, the representatives of the trade unions have appealed to the government that they are ready to contribute one percent of their basic salary.
At the directions of CM KCR, theCEO of Aarogyasri Health Care Trust held discussions with the representatives of trade unions. The discussions are led by Minister of Finance and Health T HarishRao. Their Proposals were examined. Later the report was submitted to the government. Government Has already sanctioned 15 posts to Aarogyasri Trust to manage EHS.
The Chief Secretary to the Government acts as the Chairperson of the Trust Board. On behalf of the government, the Special Chief Secretary of Finance, Secretaries of Health, Education, General Administration, Principal Secretary of Home, Director of Medical Education and CEO of Arogyasri will be the members. The CEO of EHS will be the Member Secretary. The government will nominate six members on behalf of the employees and two on behalf of the pensioners. The board members make recommendations to the government regarding policy decisions. A Government employee is appointed as CEO. Procedures for implementation of the scheme will be released separately.
