Centre pats Telangana on health insurance as state tops the country

The Telangana state tops in providing health insurance coverage to people among all other states in the country. The state’s Arogyasri health insurance scheme covers 83 per cent of the population while the central’s Ayushman Bharat’ scheme covers only 32 per cent. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had time and time again shared his views on the insurance scheme of the Central government and said Arogyasri is a hundred times better than it.

According to the central government, about 90 lakh families in the state have insurance coverage. Under the Ayushman Bharat, a total of 29,02,621 families are getting insurance coverage while 61,07,379 families are getting insurance coverage under the state government’s Arogyasri.

In BJP rule states, people are forced to depend on the Ayushman Bharat. In Maharashtra state which has 11 crore population, only 93 lakh families are covered under the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme. About two crore families need health insurance in the state, as per experts. The situation is no different in other states like Gujarat.

CM KCR explained in detail long ago about the efficacy of the Ayushman Bharat and hesitated to adopt the scheme. Only in recent times, he introduced the scheme but Arogyasri prevails over to ensure justice to every genuine family in Telangana state.
