BJP seeking applications from candidates a fooling exercise

The BJP Telangana unit that sought applications from the prospective candidates for the ensuing Assembly elections has turned out to be a fooling exercise. Except the MLA M Raghunandan Rao and former MP Jithender Reddy none of the leaders applied for the tickets. Party state president G Kishan Reddy, Eatela Rajender, MP D Aravind, Bandi Sanjay, D K Aruna, K Vishweshwar Reddy, Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy and others did not apply for the tickets to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Some leaders are staying away from the party activities and are rumoured that they might leave the party at the last moment. If the important leaders do not apply like all other candidates, what is the sanctity of seeking applications? The party cadre wanted to know. The senior leaders reportedly contend that they have no competition and are sure to get their ticket.

During its week-long period, the BJP got about 6,000 applications for the 119 Assembly tickets. It was nothing but fooling all those applicants, some workers within the party opine. There were also rumours that already the party had finalised candidates for 30 to 40 Assembly seats and there were no candidates for the 80 to 90 seats. The party is trying hard to find the candidates in those seats.

“What is the use of seeking applications if the seats where the candidates are already there? What is the use of seeking applications where there are no candidates at all,” some of the leaders question the rationale behind the exercise.
