The central government headed by Modi may have failed in providing any succor to the people but it ensured a greater growth in cases of Enforcement Direct and CBI and other agencies.
Turning the prestigious and autonomous institutions – Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax, and Central Bureau of Investigation into puppets, it targeted all its political opponents rather than the real offenders.
The Modi government thoroughly diluted these constitutional bodies and usurped their powers for its selfish political gains as the ongoing scenario is visible. During 2018-19 and 2021-22, the ED registered 605 cases. In 2018-19, it registered 195 cases and in 2021-22, it registered a whopping 1,180 cases.
The searches were more under the BJP rule than the Congress and total assets worth Rs. 95,432 crore were confiscated during the last eight years. The BJP leaders manifest their brazen arrogance by going ahead to taming political opponents and toppling democratically elected governments in the country using the central government agencies.
