Telangana government which launched the Gruhalaxmi scheme has reserved three per cent of houses for the differently abled persons. Under the scheme, the state government would give Rs. 3 lakh to those possessing their own plot to construct the house. It would be disbursed in three instalments as the construction progresses.
It is another boon to the differently abled persons announced by CM KCR who recently enhanced their pension by Rs. 1,000 per month taking the total to Rs. 4,016 per month. It was decided to construct four lakh houses under the scheme. Each Assembly constituency would be sanctioned three thousand houses. An additional 43,000 houses would be constructed under the state quota. Of the total houses, 20 per cent are reserved for SCs, 10 per cent for STs and 50 per cent for BCs and Minorities. The scheme entails an expenditure of Rs. 12,000 crore to the state government.
