Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K Tarakarama Rao has said that the party was strongly opposing the restructuring of lecturer posts in Government degree colleges in Telangana region.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by the members of the Government- Aided Degree Colleges Lecturers Association along with the Warangal (West) MLA D Vinay Bhasker, he said the TRS would fight against any attempt for injustice to the students or lecturers in the region.

The association members have met the TRS leader and brought the issue to his notice. They complained that in the guise of streamlining degree education, the government was plotting to increase the minimum strength of a class and thereby to reduce the sections in each college and then to cut short the faculty strength.

The lecturers also opposed the State government’s move to reduce the number sections in government colleges. The lecturers strength should not be reduce just based on the strength of students, they felt. It is only a ploy by the government to reduce the staff, they said.

Tarakarama Rao has demanded the government to establish new degree colleges in Telangana region keeping in view the needs of the students here. He opposed the closure of colleges in the name of corporatisation. [The Hans India]
