TJAC Shoots Down Rayala-Telangana

AICC point man to the state Digvijaya Singh, who spent the entire day on Monday holding meetings with Congress leaders to gather their views on state bifurcation, confabulated with TJAC leaders when they met him under the leadership of Prof M Kodandaram at Lake View Guest House on Monday.

When the TJAC delegation met him, Singh reportedly asked them if Rayala Telangana state was acceptable to them. However, Kodandaram is said to have opposed the proposal and made it clear that except T-state with Hyderabad as its capital, no other solution was acceptable. He then asked about keeping Hyderabad as combined capital for both the states in the event of bifurcation of AP. According to sources, he also sought the views of TJAC leaders on sharing of waters, and revenue sharing between the two states with Hyderabad as common capital.

The TJAC leaders submitted a memorandum to Singh stressing the need for according statehood to Telangana and how the region has been discriminated by Seemandhra leaders. It is learnt the TJAC leaders promised to support the Congress party in the ensuing general elections if T-state is delivered.

Kodandaram handed over copies of suicide notes left by youngsters, who committed suicide for Telangana after the Centre had gone back on its promise made on December 9, 2009.
