TJAC meet today to chalk out action plan

An extended meeting of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) will be held today to discuss the future course of action on separate statehood, TJAC chairman Prof Kodandaram said on Tuesday.

Prof Kodandaram, criticising the Centre for not keeping its promise made to the public at the fag end of the Sakala Janula Samme, also said that “as we had stated earlier, we would like to intensify the agitation during the winter session of the Parliament and Assembly and the necessary action plan would be chalked out in this meeting”.

“AICC leaders had publicly announced that after the conclusion of the two big festivals they would come out with an announcement on Telangana. But till now they have not kept their word.

With Parliament session on, we feel it is the right time for the Union Government to come out with a clear stand regarding Telangana,” Prof Kodandaram said. Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati has shown the way for Andhra Pradesh politicians and political parties what a State can do regarding division, he added.

“All this while, politicians from the ruling party as well as the Opposition were stating that there is nothing a State can do; the decision to divide a particular State rests solely with the Centre, the JAC chairman said. [The HANS India]
