Telangana students have excelled in securing internships, with the state ranking among the top two in the country, according to the India Skill Report 2024. The report reveals that Telangana boasts a remarkable 96% internship rate, closely following Andhra Pradesh, which leads with 98.33 percent.
The report underscores the growing importance of internships in industries, particularly as job opportunities in fields like B.Tech, MBA, and MCA have become increasingly competitive. Leading global companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Facebook are placing a higher value on internships, offering substantial stipends and subsequently encouraging better placements for graduates.
Notably, five out of the top ten states providing internships are in southern India. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana lead with internship rates exceeding 90 percent, while Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Kerala follow closely with rates between 84 and 88 percent.
This trend is largely attributed to the expansion of the IT industry and the presence of multinational companies in these southern states. Additionally, the concentration of students with strong computer science skills and the presence of prestigious institutions like IITs and IIMs contribute to the high internship rates in the region.
