Siripuram Srikanth(23), who immolated himself at NTR Nagar on Wednesday in support of separate Telangana state, succumbed to burn injuries on Friday. Srikanth was chanting Jai Telangana slogans even as he was writhing with pain on the bed.
TNGO leader Swami Goud, who came to visit Srikanth at Osmania hospital broke down when Srikanth said Jai Telangana on seeing him.
Prof. Kodandaram also visited Srikanth once more today.
Srikanth, a resident of NTR Nagar, put kerosene on his body and set him ablaze on Wednesday, demanding separate statehood for Telangana region.
He was admitted to Osmania General Hospital with serious burn injuries and was undergoing treatment.
Srikanth’s death sent shock waves amongst the Telangana fraternity as a huge rally was conducted only today with a message to stop suicides.
