A boon to the pedestrians: Uppal skywalk commissioned by Minister KTR

The IT and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao commissioned the modern skywalk (Foot over bridge) at the busy Uppal junction on Monday. The skywalk was built most aesthetically at a cost of Rs. 25 crore. It is 660 metres long and connects the metro rail station and bus stops on all four sides. It is a boon to the pedestrians trying to cross the road on all four sides. It is expected to ease traffic congestion as well. Mr Rama Rao also inaugurated the multi-purpose function hall at mini Shilparamam in Uppal.

Addressing a public meeting later, the minister said the road network on all four sides of the city was strengthened and in five years, as many as 35 SRDP projects were executed. The government built storm water drainage from Ramanthapur tank to Habsiguda with Rs. 88 crore. A total of Rs. 270 crore was spent on roads. Under the GO 58, house site pattas were distributed to 9,883 beneficiaries.

The minister pointed out that the flyover connecting Amberpet, Uppal and Narapally being executed by the Central government is pending. Lashing out at union minister G Kishan Reddy for the delay, the minister said BJP leaders were first in making tall claims. But they are zero when it came to executing the development works. It was because of the committed and visionary leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, about 95 per cent of the problems of the city were solved. He asked people to compare the governance of Modi and KCR.

As the state government focussed more on infrastructure development, scores of companies are investing in Telangana bringing in more development and employment opportunities to local youth. “The government is focussing on setting up more IT firms in Uppal and Tier II cities and that speaks volumes about the balanced development and commitment of BRS government,” Mr Rama Rao said.
