The increasing number of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus accidents in the state is turning out to be a matter of grave concern. In the last 30 days, more than 10 bus accidents have occurred across Telangana due to a variety of reasons. Though there were no casualties, many passengers were injured.
The Congress government has introduced free RTC bus travel for women in Telangana and the scheme has led to overcrowding of buses. Resultantly, the drivers and conductors are overburdened affecting the efficiency of the services. In the recent past, the passengers complain that many accidents have taken place due to overcrowded buses.
In addition to overspeeding and negligence of drivers, the overcrowding of buses is leading to more accidents. Keeping in view the safety of the passengers, the public feels that the RTC bus services should be increased to meet the demand.
