Revanth Reddy becomes a laughing stock for blaming KCR for 2000 Basheerbagh firing

TPCC President Revanth Reddy became a laughing stock on social media for blaming CM KCR for the Basheerbagh firing incident that took place in 2000. Speaking to the media after coming back from the US tour, Revanth said that KCR is the reason for the firing incident that claimed the lives of many farmers.

Many people exposed the ignorance of Revanth Reddy on this issue and corrected him. Netizens pointed out that the power tariff hike by the then CM Chandrababu Naidu led to the Basheerbagh incident. Protesting the firing and the electricity reforms, KCR, who was the then deputy speaker of the AP Assembly, resigned from his post and the Telugu Desam Party.

KCR vehemently opposed the electricity reforms which enabled the state government to hike the power tariff by 15% every year. He also wrote a strong letter to Chandrababu Naidu warning him against the dire consequences of the anti-people step.

In all, the press meet by Revanth Reddy appeared to be a face-saving attempt from the recent embarrassment caused to the Congress party due to his remarks on free power to farmers.
