Revanth Reddy at odds with the Congress high command

It appears that CM Revanth Reddy is at odds with the national leadership of the Congress. Reports suggest that his governance style, policy decisions, and controversial comments have led to friction with the party high command, resulting in a lack of support from Delhi.

Here are some of the key issues where Revanth Reddy and the party high command are not on the same page.

Delhi liquor case: Revanth Reddy’s stance on several national issues, such as his comments on Adani, the liquor policy, and the Supreme Court, has reportedly angered the Congress high command. His remarks on MLC Kavitha and KCR about Delhi’s liquor policy diverge from the party’s official stand, which views the liquor case as a BJP conspiracy.

MLC Kavitha’s bail: Revanth’s public remarks on court judgments, particularly in the context of bail for MLC Kavitha, have stirred controversy. The Supreme Court has even reprimanded Revanth for his statements on court orders.

Adani issue: The Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi, has been a vocal critic of Adani’s business practices. However, Revanth Reddy’s administration has reportedly signed deals worth over Rs. 12,000 crores with the Adani Group. The decision to invite Adani to Telangana and entrust him with key projects has drawn criticism from the Congress leadership.

Calling Modi ‘Bade Bhai’: Revanth’s statement that PM Narendra Modi is his big brother has repeatedly irked the Congress party’s high command.

Internal party discontent: There are growing murmurs within the party about Revanth Reddy’s leadership style. Many ministers are reportedly unhappy with the CM’s unilateral decision-making and have expressed their dissatisfaction privately.

A few days ago, MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy even claimed that Uttam Kumar Reddy would soon become the CM. The lack of cooperation from senior ministers has led to speculations about the longevity of Revanth Reddy’s tenure as CM.

Formation of HYDRAA: The decision to introduce ‘HYDRAA,’ a new initiative criticized as a form of ‘bulldozer politics,’ has been met with resistance within the party. The Congress has historically opposed similar tactics in BJP-ruled states, and Revanth’s insistence on implementing them in Telangana has not sat well with party seniors.

Allegations of political targeting: There are rumors that Revanth Reddy is focusing on eliminating potential rivals within the party. Senior leaders like Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and others who could challenge his position are reportedly being sidelined or targeted through initiatives like ‘HYDRAA.’

Public perception: Public sentiment towards Revanth Reddy’s administration appears to be waning, with many feeling that governance in the state has lost direction. Analysts suggest that the CM’s attempts to assert his authority are backfiring, with the party’s leadership in Delhi growing increasingly frustrated.

On the whole, Revanth’s one-upmanship and unilateral decisions against the party’s line have apparently landed him in hot water.
