The anti-corruption crusader who has brought out mega scams like 2G with his legal prowess, is now on a new mission. He declared that the Union Government has committed a fraud by not honoring the December 9th, 2009 statement declaring statehood to Telangana.
Well, he is none other than Subramanian Swamy.
Expressing support to the separate Telangana statehood demand, Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said he is ready to fight a legal battle for the cause.
He said he is ready to file a petition over the demand either in Supreme Court or in the High Court here and asked the pro-Telangana lawyers to send him details of the issue. Swamy was addressing a seminar conducted by National Forum For Telangana State at Taramati Baradari in Hyderabad.
Citing the examples of his legal victories in Rama Sethu issue and 2G spectrum scam case, he said a similar success can be achieved on Telangana issue as the government went back on its promise to form a separate state.
Maintaining that smaller states facilitated faster development, he supported the idea of creating more small states. [With inputs from PTI]
