The IT minister Mr K T Rama Rao has asked the IKEA authorities to mend their ways and behave properly with all customers. He was reacting to a Twitter message by journalist Nitin Sethi who complained that the security and supervisor at the IKEA store checked all the bags of his wife who hails from Manipur. They checked all the purchases and but they did not check any other customers. It sheerly amounted to racial discrimination. He rued how could a global giant behave like that.
Mr Rama Rao reacting sharply to the message strongly objected to the behaviour of IKEA staff. He asked the authorities to re-orient their staff to ensure equal treatment and respect for all customers, he said. In another message, Mr Rao condemned the incident that took place in Jharkhand where a jilted lover set ablaze a girl studying 12th standard who later died at the hospital. He wanted the government to deal with the criminal sternly invoking suitable laws. The punishment should be a deterrent one, he said.
