Punjab and Tamil Nadu keen on replicating TS-bPASS policy

The Telangana State Building Permission Approval and Self Certification System (TS-bPASS) launched by the BRS government is getting patronage from other states in the country. The Punjab and Tamil Nadu state governments are planning to introduce the system in their states. The single window policy enables hassle-free issuance of permission for the construction of buildings.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin inquired and came to know about the unique feature while Punjab CM Bhagawant Mann came along with his officials to study the policy and its advantages. They were very much impressed by the system. The State government is trying to synchronise TS-bPASS with the registration office so that land details could be known. The beneficiaries of the Housing Scheme could get Rs. 3 lakh as announced by the BRS government directly to their bank account or reject the application if it was not proper. A project monitoring unit was set up to oversee these changes in the policy.

The employees who are delaying the issuance of approvals within the set limit will stand to lose as government imposes a fine on them for the delayed execution. For over 200 square yards of land, occupancy certificates are issued through TS-bPASS. The government is also ensuring strict implementation of a cool roof policy The policy was launched on November 16, 2020, and a total of 2.45 lakh applications were received so far. Of them, 22,643 applications came under registration while 2,02,512 applications came under instant approval and 17,829 were under the single window system.
