Outrageous: V6 Velugu, Andhra Jyothi continue to spread fake news on previous BRS govt

In an outrageous attempt to malign the image of the previous BRS government, some media houses are still resorting to spreading fake news and unverified claims. Despite clarification from the BRS Party on the sheep population in the state, V6 Velugu, Andhra Jyothi, and Sakshi published unverified numbers in their columns today.

This controversy arose after CM Revanth Reddy’s office allegedly released a statement claiming a significant decline in the number of sheep in Telangana. The BRS, however, swiftly countered this claim.

The BRS Party pointed out that the Congress government itself, in its Socio-Economic Outlook 2024 report presented in the Assembly just two days ago, stated that the current number of sheep in the state is 1.9 crore. The BRS emphasized that the statistics from this report clearly contradict the false narrative being spread.

The numbers in the Socio-Economic Outlook 2024 pertain to the Livestock Census done in 2019, as the latest census is due in September. However, some vested interests have claimed that the sheep population declined in the Livestock Census 2024, which is yet to be conducted. The BRS has debunked this claim, but some media outlets have ignored this correction, purportedly to tarnish the achievements of the BRS regime in livestock improvement.

The BRS has appealed to the editors of the media organizations that published the misleading news to correct their reports in the next edition. They have also warned that if the corrections are not made, a formal complaint will be lodged with the Press Council of India.
