Nothing as ‘settlers,’ says KCR

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that there was nothing as “settlers” in reference to people who have migrated from coastal and Rayalaseema districts and made a living in Hyderabad.

All those who have settled down in Hyderabad are people belonging to the city, he told a large number of people who joined the Telangana Rashtra Samiti from Kukatpally, which has a large number of people from Andhra and Rayalaseema”. He addressed them at his camp office.

Observing that the government did not have regional bias, Mr. Rao said the government would solve the problem of everyone, who settled down in Hyderabad and other parts of the State. It was precisely because the government did not have regional bias that it gave State funeral to film-maker Ramanaidu.

“You are not settlers, your parents and ancestors came down and set up home here,” he told the crowd.

Mr. Rao cited his own example stating that though he hailed from Medak, he always identified himself with Hyderabad. The divide between locals and non-locals in Telangana was over with the formation of the State. It was not good to cling on to it.
