Nine medical colleges mean nine wonders: CM KCR

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has described the nine medical colleges as nine wonders in the state and termed the day as historic. Inaugurating the nine medical colleges virtually from his office at Pragathi Bhavan, the CM congratulated the students who secured admissions this year. It was a great day and will etched forever in the history of the state.

The CM said that it gave him immense happiness to see medical colleges coming up in the state that was once denied all kinds of opportunities. “Today we have one medical college in every district. It is happy to see that 85 per cent of seats are allocated to Telangana students,” he said. There will be 34 medical colleges in the government sector now. Already there are 26 medical colleges in place now. Next year, eight more medical colleges will be set up. About 10,000 doctors would be produced from Telangana state which is a great achievement.

Those who heckled the Telangana leadership and pointed out their inefficiencies should sit down and take note of the achievements. They should learn from the able and efficient leadership of the state. In the remote places where the tribal population is dominant like Bhupalpalli and Mulug, the medical services came within their reach, he said.

There were once 17,000 beds in government hospitals which now rose to 34,000 beds. Only those hospitals in Hyderabad were better known and depended upon in the past. Now every district has got a hospital with all amenities and enough staff. Mr KCR said the KCR Kits are not just soaps and other items but there is a hidden philosophy behind the scheme. The rural women who are engaged in daily labour lack proper facilities. They are forced to for daily wages owing to their poor economic conditions. The monetary incentive being given as part of would help them sustain and prevent them from going into labour during those hard times of pregnancy, he explained. They would be getting proper guidance and medicines at the government hospital. The KCR Kit has all the nutrition a woman wants during the pregnancy period and it is a very rich food supplement, he pointed out.
