Minister KTR held a high-level meeting on fire safety norms

In light of the fire accidents that are taking place in the state, ministers KT Rama Rao, Mahmood Ali and Talasani Srinivas Yadav held a high-level meeting on Wednesday at BRKR Bhavan.

The ministers reviewed the measures to be taken on the high-rise buildings in the State that do not adhere to the fire safety norms. They made some suggestions such as conducting fire safety audits of high-rise buildings in Hyderabad and other cities in the State. 

They have also made a decision to not cause inconvenience to people in the process of auditing. The group of ministers also mulled changing extant fire safety rules, if required.

The Ministers asked officials to study the best practices adopted by cities in India and abroad to prepare a list of recommendations. They have announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to each of the three victims of the Secunderabad fire accident.
