Metro rail to connect Old City in Hyderabad soon

The Old City in the state capital Hyderabad city will soon have metro rail connectivity. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has ordered the Municipal Administration and Urban Development department to expedite the works on the proposed MGBS to Falakunma route connecting the Old City. The route with a 5.5-kilometre length will have four stations – Salarjung Museum, Charminar, Shalibanda and Shamsheergunj. It is estimated to cost Rs. 2,000 crores.

Minister KT Rama Rao took to Twitter to announce that the metro rail will now be extended to Old City. The officials of L&T and Hyderabad Metro Rail Project Limited are on the job. The state capital already has metro rail operations on Nagole – Rayadurgam; LB Nagar – Miyapur and MGBS- JBS routes. The new route connecting Old City is expected to bring in more development. It will be a boon to the residents living there as they can move in any direction hassle-free utilising the metro rail services.
