The stupendous Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project is a marvel that was made possible only by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Maharashtra former MLA Bhanudas Murkute in an interview said Telangana state reeled under severe drought without water for irrigation and drinking purposes is now witnessing rapid progress. The vision of CM KCR is superb that made many things possible.
Describing Mr KCR as ‘Apara Bhagiratha’, Mr Murkute said it was not an ordinary thing to lift Godavari water to such a height. Mr KCR has written a new history. “Lifting water from earth to sky was only witnessed in epics,” he said. With a series of welfare measures and development projects, the Telangana people are a better lot compared to those in Maharashtra. “The leaders in my state lacked a vision and always engaged in blaming each other. People are vexed with the politics and are eagerly waiting for a leader like KCR,” former MLA Mr Murkute opined.
The Maharashtra leader said he had visited the Kaleshwaram project and was amazed to see water stored in river Godavari to a stretch of 200 kilometres. He also visited the Mission Bhagiratha plant in Gajwel. “I have tasted the water here and found it excellent in quality. Mr KCR has done what was not possible for any other leader in the past. I find a pleasant atmosphere everywhere,” he said.
Mr Murkute said he welcomes Mr KCR into national politics as he pledged to bring about a qualitative and quantitive change in the country. “Mr KCR being an excellent orator and carrying a charisma has got all the abilities to lead the country. People are looking for an able and promising leadership,” the Maharashtra leader said. Mr Murkute who was a professor entered politics and was elected MLA of Srirampur in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra from 1985-90, 1990-95 and 1995-99 and held several positions. He was in Telangana on a two-day study tour.
