IT revolution in Telangana’s Tier-II and Tier-III cities

The Telangana government is revolutionizing the IT expansion in the state’s Tier-II and Tier-III cities. With the addition of state-of-the-art IT Towers and IT Hubs, Telangana is leading the IT revolution in hitherto uncharted areas. By taking the IT industry to new corridors, the state government is creating ample employment opportunities for the youth and boosting the local economy.

Today (October 2), IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao will break the ground for a new IT Tower in Malakpet, inaugurate an IT Tower in Nalgonda and an IT Hub in Suryapet. Adopting a 3D mantra of decongest, decarbonize and decentralize, the Telangana government is promoting the expansion of IT in small cities and towns. Minister KTR is actively encouraging IT companies to set up their shops in the Tier-II and Tier-III cities of the state.

Spanning an area of 10 acres, the 21-storeyed IT Tower in Malakpet will come up in a built-up space of 20 lakh sqft with a cost of Rs. 701 crores. This facility will create a whopping 50,000 direct and indirect jobs. Though an IT Tower was promised to Nalgonda way back in 2009, it became a reality in 2021 when Minister KTR laid the foundation stone for the tower in December 2021. This plug-and-play facility has a built-up area of around 75,000 sqft in 5 floors.

Built with a cost of Rs. 95 crores, Nalgonda IT Tower has a seating capacity for 2,000 employees and 15 companies have completed recruitment of around 600 employees for their units. In Suryapet IT Hub, 15 companies have come forward to start their operations in the IT Hub with many more in the offing.

Already, IT Towers are operational in Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, Siddipet, and Nizamabad. While an IT Tower in Adilabad is under construction, the state government is contemplating for IT Parks in Ramagundam and Wanaparthy.

Telangana government’s ICT policy (2021-26) envisions to create 50,000 IT jobs by 2026 in Tier-II and Tier-III cities by dispersing the IT growth across the state in general and in Hyderabad in particular. With the addition of new IT Towers and Hubs, CM KCR’s vision will soon be a reality.
