Institutional deliveries doubled in Telangana government hospitals

Health Minister T Harish Rao has said the deliveries in government hospitals rose phenomenally during the past nine years. An average of 69 percent of deliveries were registered in government hospitals thus setting a new record in the country. In April, the Sangareddy stood first with 83 percent of deliveries, Narayanpet 83 percent, Medak 82 percent and Gadwal with 81 percent deliveries.

“In 2014, births in government hospitals were 30 percent, and in 2022-23, it more than doubled to 62 percent. In 16 districts, 70% of deliveries are registered in government hospitals. This is a testimony to maternal and child care measures implemented as part of Arogya Telangana under the guidance of visionary CM KCR Garu,” said Harish Rao.

This was all possible with the improved facilities and increased staff in the government hospitals. This helped bring down the woman and infant mortality rate significantly another record in the country. Mr Harish Rao inspected the ongoing construction of health city, a huge multi specialty hospital coming up in Warangal on Wednesday. He said 68 percent of work was completed and CM KCR has directed the officials to make it ready by November.

The Health Minister said the 24 floor hospital will offer more 36 services and will have over 400 doctors. It Will be the most modern than any corporate hospital in the state with many unique features.
