Gross injustice to Telangana in Krishna river water share

The Congress’s rotten politics and negligence, and discrimination by BJP, Telangana state is at the receiving end. The state is being denied its due share in the Krishna River water. The tribunal headed by Justice Brijesh Kumar has made it clear that as per the state bifurcation act Section 89, they have no powers to decide on the share of Krishna River water. The state has to depend on section 3 of the Interstate River Water Dispute Act 1956. Following the provisions of the Act, a new Krishna River Water Tribunal was constituted but it is yet to decide on the issue.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said Section 89 of the bifurcation act would not serve any purpose. They will have to depend on section 3 of the interstate rive water dispute act. Following the inordinate delay, the Telangana state moved the Supreme Court on the issue. However, the Central government asked the Telangana state to withdraw the case promising to sort out the issue through the tribunal.

Though the Law Department has told the Centre to entertain the petitions from Telangana state on the issue, the centre did not heed to date. Even after two years of withdrawal of the case from the Supreme Court, the BJP government has been sitting over the issue without any decision. The delay is resulting in loss to Telangana state.
