The former Chief Minister of AP, N Chandrababu Naidu continues to bluff the people of both the Telugu states and still shamelessly claims credit for Telangana’s development. Mr Naidu who is known for his World Bank policies and anti-people measures claims that he laid the foundation for the development of Telangana.
Indeed, he was a failed CM who ditched people for his fancy programmes of the World Bank like the collection of user charges in government hospitals from the poorest of the poor and the scrapping of subsidies to the needy farming sector among others. He is known for taxing people and the electricity tariff during his rule was an indication.
Mr Naidu recently said that Telangana is excellent and land there commands Rs. 100 crore an acre. Once, if one sells one acre in Andhra, they could buy two to three acres in Telangana. Now if one sells one acre in Telangana, they could buy hundreds of acres in Andhra. “It is all due to my planning and vision that Telangana has progressed much,” he claims without any scruples.
People are not laughing at his talk. They want to know if Mr Naidu is such a genius why he let down the people of Andhra Pradesh who gave him the chance the first time. They are deprived of any welfare and development. After 10 years of formation, Andhra Pradesh state has no capital city of its own. What did Mr. Naidu do during his term in office? People wanted to know.
Mr Naidu was in power 20 years ago in united Andhra Pradesh. It is a shame for him to claim the credit for the achievements of Telangana state which formed a decade ago and has struggled hard to fight many hurdles under the able leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. People of Telangana know how Mr Naidu conspired against Mr KCR even after the formation of a separate Telangana. The denial of power during the initial years and the famous note-for-vote scandal are only a few.
