The Telangana state formation day celebrations that began on June 2 came to a close on a grand note here on Thursday evening. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, his cabinet colleagues and officials were busy the whole day on the concluding day. Mr Rao distributed the double-bedroom housing to the poor at Kollur in Ranga Reddy district. It is the second largest township built in the world that accommodates 15,660 families in one place with all modern facilities and inaugurated India’s largest private rail coach factory in Kondakal and laid foundation stone for super specialty hospital in Patancheru.
During the celebrations, each day was dedicated to one sector – power, education, irrigation, literature and so on. The officials of that particular department showcased the achievements made during the past nine years. Ministers, officials, employees and the general public took part in the celebrations and lent a festive atmosphere all over the state. The BRS government succeeded in making its point clear to the people as chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, ministers KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao and others explained to the people what the BRS government did during the last nine years and how they addressed the long pending problems.
Chief Minister KCR inaugurated several new buildings – collectorates and police headquarters in districts and addressed several public meetings rebutting the opposition criticism and highlighting the achievements of his government. At the grand finale on Thursday evening, the Chief Minister inaugurated the majestic Martyrs Memorial Building opposite the secretariat.
Addressing the gathering, he said his government would always remember the sacrifices made by people during the Telangana struggle in the first and second phases. He looked very emotional recalling the times when he launched the second phase of a mass movement for statehood for the Telangana region in united Andhra Pradesh. “Several people tried to lure us. They wanted to kill the movement and tried their best. Many humiliated us. Many created hurdles to the movement. Several people favoured violent movement – torching buses, killing and damaging public and private property. But we stuck to Gandhian principle – a non-violent struggle and succeeded,” Mr KCR said.
KCR further pointed out that people questioned him and his party men why resign every time to the posts. But the BRS believed in people and they backed us at every turn. People protected us and we are indebted to them a lot. The young Telangana state achieved many milestones within a short time. “My government is trying to turn every aspiration a reality. We have come a long way and still, there is a lot to do,” Mr KCR said.
