The Congress leaders who resorted to ‘power holiday and crop holiday’ during their regime are now vowing to scrap free power to farmers.
Ministers – Niranjan Reddy and G Jagadish Reddy and Rythu Bandhu committee chairman MLC P Rajeshwar Reddy and others condemned the allegations of Congress leaders on free power. It was after Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao announced round-the-clock free power to farmers, there was a new dawn in farmers’ lives. The extent of cultivation grew phenomenally aided by the welfare scheme such as Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bheema besides strengthening of irrigation sector.
The Congress leaders are unaware of the development and are stuck back in time. They neither know the history nor the understand of the power sector. Energy minister G Jagadish Reddy asked the Congress leaders to name one sector that suffered on account of lack of power supply. Erratic power supply and discrimination in the Telangana region were one of the causes that led to the Telangana movement.
Agriculture minister S Niranjan Reddy said the Congress leaders were never bothered about the interests of farmers or the well-being of the state. They were focused only on politicising every issue. They want to come to power in the state by hook or crook. Farmers and the general public are being misguided and thrown into confusion. “If the Congress comes to power, the Telangana state will go to dogs with its anti-farmer and anti-people policies. There will be a bunch of ignorants at the helm of affairs ruling at their whims and fancies,” Mr Niranjan Reddy said. The ministers demanded that the Congress party should spell out its stand on 24-hour free power supply to the farmers forthwith.
