In a shocking incident, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, a senior Dalit leader, was humiliated at the Yadadri temple. Today, CM Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, and ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Konda Surekha visited the temple for the first time since the Congress party assumed power in Telangana.
After having darshan of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy, the CM, along with his wife, and ministers, sat for ‘Veda Asheervachanam’ as part of rituals. During this convention, Deputy CM Bhatti and senior BC leader Endowments Minister Konda Surekha were made to sit on a small stool, while the rest sat on chairs. Surprisingly, neither the CM nor the ministers bothered to offer a chair to Bhatti Vikramarka.
This belittling episode has evoked sharp criticism from the public and political parties. The BRS and the BSP have labeled it as an insult to dalits and denounced the Congress party.
